Job Title: Project and Head Office Accountant

Job Summary

The Project and Head office Accountant role will report to the Group Reporting Manager and be responsible for the accounting and administration of the development projects for the Enfinium group as they move through investment approval, financing, construction and into commercial operation. The role will also be responsible for supporting the management accounting for the head-office corporate functions.

The primary responsibility for this role will be to support the Business Development Team and Construction Team to engage and procure development services, appropriate commitment control, ensure proper cost allocation, and regular project cost reporting. The role will advise on the project contract structure to ensure that these are designed to reflect operational requirements. The Project HO Accountant will also provide support to the head office budget holders to prepare regular accruals and management reporting. The role will have one direct report of an Assistant Accountant.

The Enfinium organisation in the UK is undergoing substantial growth and change. The development projects that this role will support will provide significant value to the business and will provide the holder with experience in a range of commercial, financing and accounting matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, the jobholder must be able to perform each of the following duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned as required.

  • The role provides accounting support to the Project Development and Construction teams. The Project Accountant will advise these teams on project cost allocation and reporting requirements for projects in development.
  • Providing accounting support to the Head Office Budget holders, ensuring correct allocation of costs, preparing monthly budget analysis files, cashflow statements and aged creditors analysis.
  • Advise on contract terms (invoicing, settlement) including the principal EPC contract. Support the teams in creating POs, receipting and invoice approval on the ERP system.
  • Supervising the Assistant Accountant to ensure accurate transaction processing for both construction and head office expenditure.
  • Preparing regular cost reporting for construction management and regular management reporting of corporate overhead. Update cost-to-complete forecasts and other ad-hoc reporting required.
  • Preparing and posting regular month-end journals related to the projects into the project SPV entities (eg value of work done accrual on long term contracts).
  • Financial administration of the project legal entities: including VAT reporting, and corporation tax compliance. Supporting the Statutory Reporting requirements for the project entities. Answering audit queries related to project entities.
  • Providing accounting support to head office and treasury accounting, maintaining ledgers, posting loan administration and derivative accounting journals.
  • Understanding the financing arrangements, pre-completion debt servicing, loan compliance and reporting obligations. Providing information to the Treasury team for loan compliance.
  • Ensuring the appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained. Reconciling project and head office bank accounts.

Qualifications & Experience

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

  • Part qualified or recently qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA).
  • Highly proficient in the use of integrated IT solutions, ERP and Excel reporting skills.


  • As an internal business advisor provide appropriate commercially credible support to non-financial internal customers.
  • Hands-on, self-motivated individual with strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
  • Highly proficient in the use of integrated IT solutions, ERP and Excel reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as contribute to a positive team environment.

Work Environment

The normal setting for this job is an office environment, although the jobholder may be required to undertake some travel to fulfill their job role including to project site.

The jobholder will be required to use motor co-ordination with finger dexterity (e.g., keyboard operation) for most of the day.
