enfinium, a leading UK energy from waste operator, today announces the launch of its 2026 Community Benefit Funding programme, welcoming applications from projects and organisations to support community initiatives close to its facilities in England and Wales.
In 2025, the enfinium Community Benefit Funding programme allocated more than £175,0001, supporting initiatives delivering environmental benefits, improving standards of health, safety and wellbeing, or strengthening the communities where enfinium operates. The Community Benefit Funding Programme informs part of enfinium’s wider charitable giving which totalled more than £275,000 in 2025.
Among the projects supported was Cherry Tree Academy in West Yorkshire, which saw enfinium’s Ferrybridge Community Benefit Funds contribute over £4,000 towards enfinium’s £45,000 investment in an electric minibus. The vehicle will be shared across schools within the Waterton Academy Trust, helping reduce emissions while providing local transport for schoolchildren.
Other initiatives included waste-focused projects such as Picker Pals, an environmental education charity that received a combined £13,200 from enfinium’s Kemsley and Parc Adfer Community Benefit Funds. The funding is being used to help foster environmental stewardship among children aged six to nine in 20 schools across Kent and North Wales through hands-on learning about responsible waste disposal.
Philip Curds, Head of ESG & Sustainability at enfinium, said: “We are immensely proud of the positive change delivered through enfinium’s Community Benefit Funding programme. In 2025, more than £175,000 was invested in local communities, supporting grassroots projects that improved environmental outcomes and enhanced health, safety and wellbeing. We look forward to continuing this support in 2026, working alongside organisations in the communities closest to our facilities to help them thrive.”
Patrick Jackson, Founder of Picker Pals, said: “Supporting the next generation in protecting the environment and giving them the confidence to do so is of paramount importance. With thanks to enfinium’s funding, twenty additional schools across England and Wales will now be equipped with a programme that helps to achieve this.”
The Community Benefit Funding programme is available to community groups and organisations based within a 10-mile radius of enfinium’s facilities in Kent, North Wales, West Midlands, and West Yorkshire.
Organisations based outside of the catchment area are also eligible to apply for grants. Applications are welcomed from registered charities, schools, places of learning, not-for-profit companies, community organisations and groups, including those supported by public funding.
All applications must demonstrate that the project or event in question will either deliver environmental benefits (such as the promotion of clean energy, waste reduction and / or recycling improvements), improve standards of health, safety and wellbeing or enhance the wider community. This could mean promoting skills and educational development, environmental improvements or activity that helps boost community cohesion.
Application criteria and applications forms can be downloaded from the project website: About our Community Funds – enfinium. For more information, please call 0800 860 6251, or email communityfunding@enfinium.co.uk.

Statistical Information
About enfinium
enfinium is a leading UK energy from waste operator with five operational sites in the UK, in West Yorkshire, Kent and Flintshire, and one in construction. enfinium diverts 2.7 million tonnes of unrecyclable waste from climate-damaging landfill, putting it to good use by turning it into home grown energy, enough to power 600,000 UK homes. enfinium’s ambition is to transform its facilities into local ‘decarbonisation hubs’ powered by the millions of tonnes of unrecyclable waste the UK will produce for decades to come. Using existing energy from waste infrastructure, enfinium could contribute to heat networks, produce electrolytic hydrogen, or use carbon capture technology to provide durable, high quality carbon removals which will be critical for the UK to achieve net zero by 2050.
